AdGabber

What's up y'all?!! After 9 months of prep, TopCreatives has launched it's beta site (www.topcreatives.com). TopCreatives is a community for creatives to come and compete on creative briefs posted by the top creative agencies around the globe.

In our initial stage, we are hoping to get some feedback from those of you who sign up to participate in our Challenges. This community will, over time, evolve to do more than just posting creative briefs for cash and other prizes, but will also include offerings that you, the community, ask us to build.

Please visit us at www.topcreatives.com and sign up to recieve alerts when new briefs are posted. After checking out the site, please feel free to email me or post here with your comments about the site and the changes you would like to see.

Thanks so much everybody, we are really excited to have you join!

I dunno...kinda sounds like a concept-funnel for agencies that have had their collective "Idea" boxes dry up faster than Joan Crawfords lower 40 on a "headache" night...(insert the sound of the last swig of a slurpee being sucked up into a HUGE straw...forcefully)

(ADHD moment...)

Swig is such a cool word...

(back on topic focus...)

maybe its just my cynical ass?

(smirk with an eyebrow raise while listening to House of Pain's "Jump Around")
Oh YEAH....congrats on the launch.
Well, it sure is green. Im not sure that means good or bad....probably good, because its still in my mind well after closing it. Congrats on the launch, even though Im a newbie here!
Ok, having fully (see disclaimer below) absorbed the agreement, do I read correctly that as a "work-for-hire" your entity becomes the sole owner of said design and all rights heretofore? No artist's copyright, no royalty, or further obligation of your entity to the original creator other that the initial cash prize? Now please understand I haven't been to sleep yet and I may be reading it entirely wrong, but I want to make sure before referring it or signing myself.

thanks,
dave
Good luck! I already signed up.

Man it sure is scary as all hell when two brain cells get THAT close together at a point in spatial understanding, polarity of conviction and cognitive "grasping" of the verbal fornication thats about to ensue.

I swear, there is still hope for us people...

(singing a Red Hot Chili Peppers song to himself..."Give it away, Give it away, Give it away....NOW"

carry on...
If you noted that I had said I hadn't been to sleep in roughly 40-44 hours, I was making it clear I was pretty bleary eyed at first reading. One might also forgive me for being a doddering old disabled fool (not quite at the stage to qualify for a helper monkey), but if you have something to say, let's not play metaphors. Cuz gee mister, it really smart at first, but I'm sure I'll learn from it, just like my 'paw says.

And bless you, kind sir for bidding that I carry on, I was stuck marching in place right up until then.

now for more vocabulary hour: droll, chuff, imperturbable, polarity....damn you said that one, i lose.
(cough)...Uhmmm not to be an assjack or anything...but THAT wasn't directed at VOUS...moreover the site itself.

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut now that you mention "droll, chuff, imperturbable, polarity"
My mistake then. Since you had quoted me, I thought it was I in the crosshairs.

My apologies,

dave
Dave, it honestly was more an indictment of the "TopCreatives" policy that elicited the gleeful " I joined" bravado from those that just don't know any better. I, for one, am glad that I wasn't the only one to notice their "whats yours is now ours" policy...It almost sounded like a "Double-your-IQ-or-NO-money-back" disclaimer...I mean if you have an idea that last for more then 4 hours...go see your Doctor immediately...

Know what I mean?
Hi folks,

Sorry I couldn't respond earlier, but I'd like to clarify a few things here. First, thanks to all of you who have visited the site and signed up, we are very thankful.

Secondly in response to the discussion here about ownership of concepts, etc., as you read through the agreement, you will notice it says that FOR A PERIOD OF 90 DAYS the concepts belong to us and that you get ALL your rights back unless your concepts have been chosen as winners. We do this so that you can get paid for your ideas if they are chosen. From a legal perspective, this protects your ideas from being stolen by any client. We are protecting your intellectual property.

The winners will be paid for their submisssions, which would transfer the rights to the client who buys them, not us. TC does not own anything, we are simply a place for creatives to find work and hopefully make a couple extra bucks.

As a matter of fact, TC is attempting to advocate for YOU as a creative because in any normal bidding situation, a client would look to three or more creatives to pitch for the business and award it to only one. On our site anywhere from 3 to 10 people will be compensated for their time, depending on the competition.

Finally, both AdGabber and TopCreatives are COMMUNITIES - places people come to develop relationships, not tear eachother apart. With that said, I welcome constructive criticism about how to make the community we are developng a better one, but will not tolerate any individual or group of individuals attacking those who have chosen to join my community. If you have a problem with me or my people, contact me directly and express your concerns, but DO NOT insult the people who view opportunities diffenently than you.

Thanks,

(my gut steps up to the computer keyboard and starts typing...all while I sleep in the next room)

That, my friends, is the usual "verbage" right before the veritable business orgy...I think it was credited to Caligula or maybe it was Henry Ford waaaaaaay back in the day.

Its grammatical word-play like this that smoothly and easily turns a noun like FIST...

...into a verb!

(Home Alone-After Shave face)

moving on...
