AdGabber

I believe that most of us have tended to agree on other threads that much of advertising isn't necesarily good or bad, it's just advertising. I relaized that as a voice talent working for other creatives I get to do v.o. for projects I wish I could have written or produced. I am not one of the lucky ones out there who gets much in the way of budgets to work with and much of what I do is rather "functional", so when I actually have the reare moment to get out of my box and do something differnt and exciting i the way of writing, directing, or conceptualizing, it's just so nice.

Currently I'm finishing up a week of directing an author named Bill Tancer read his soon to be released book, "Click" for an audio book version. It's a great book and the experience of getting to know Bill has been wonderful.

So, wahat's new with you.

Seriously not to promote, but the most interesting thing I've done in the past two weeks is create a video for the Ford Fiesta Movement:

You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2FMtig4QGI

They're choosing 100 drivers to drive a Fiesta for 6 months and make a video a month for the web. They contacted me last week for a background check, which was encouraging, and they're choosing this week. They've already picked some, so who knows. I really want to make these videos though... :) Michelle

Hi Michelle:

I did take a look - twice. And thought it was well produced and interesting. But going in I had the assumption that it was your Ford Fiesta spot, but then you were driving a Lex???

I'd be interested in a bit more of the story such as how you heard about the contest, some of the creative / production issues and tools on your shoot, that sort of stuff.

Hey - good luck!

Cordially,

Steve
I heard about this from their digital marketing guy Scott Monty. Cool idea. I wanted to send one in to get a car, but having a baby took up my free time.
This.
I just finished up shooting a second round of TV spots for SafeAuto Insurance. The Columbus Dispatch wrote a nice article about the trend shifting from hiring celebrity spokespersons to "average Joe" spokespersons... Nice Job Columbus Dispatch.

Very nice. Both the spot and the article.
It's a real pleasure when you read about something in advertising working so well; in particular when it's from an "Average Joe". No million dollar budgets or fancy European directors, just solid work.

Keep it up!

Been book-building. A lot. I'm an art director and I'm looking for some solid ground.

I just put together 2 campaigns. You can see them here:

My partners and I have wrapped up our business plan and pitch deck on my new start-up: Gathr.Me. It's a way to manage all of the sites you log into: social networks, banking, commerce, even AdGabber!. The great part for marketers is that you can use it to inflate, manage and measure social media and online marketing for your clients.
Now the big trick: finding investors!
I listened to Shaun Preddy and Deborah Dawton (bda, London) at a congress in Vienna last week. This is, for sure, not of "sensational interest" as you've been asking about, but I heard some interesting words (some new, some again) about the worth of Corporate Design and the relationship between clients and designers. So if "low budgets" make our "bread jobs", that doesn't mean, these have to be of low interest.
It gave me the kick to finish my own homepage-update (which I am working on since '08, I confess). Maybe some higher budget-job is coming in ;)
I called a young friend (I'm probably twice his age) of mine to tell him I was launching a blog. He said, "That's so 2008 of you." My blog 10 Minutes of Brilliance is only 4 weeks only, but that's 28 weeks if dogs blogged. I know a couple of my friends here are already subscribing to it. I'd love it if any of my other fellow Creative Directors would check it out:

Thanks for the soap box.

Jack
Jack, I'll check it out. I also look forward to your spin-off, If Dogs Blogged.
