While going through Adweek's site I came across this gem of a video. It's Nick Law over at R/GA talking about the Brand Platform. Are User Experience professionals Digital Account Planners?

I was just at a MITX user experience event at Digitas and while the presenters were presenting I started to get a full understanding of what a User Experience professional is trying to accomplish in the digital space.



As it turns out User Experience professionals have very similar goals and objectives that Account Planners have. They are focused on the consumer of the website in the same way an Account Planner is focused on the consumer of a product.

The New Advertising Platform

During this recession it has been quiet clear that Newspapers and Magazines will not last in their printed forms much longer, and that the push to online news and content has accelerated.



Media distributors have two problems right now:



1. They can't charge a lot for banner ads because banner ads and other online "advertising techniques" don't really work in terms of "make the logo bigger" type branding. (Fault of both advertisers and media distributors.)
