WWCD – What Would Creativity Do?

Recently I was asked by a college student finishing graduate school to answer a few questions about my creative education, career path and what creativity means to me, specifically as it relates to advertising and industry change. His interest and trust in me was prompted by an RT on Twitter from a post I made – "Don't be Afraid". I'm always happy to help out young people aspiring to grow their creative interests and enter…See More

Parallel Action – How you move

Think about what happens when you work in a linear fashion – you wait right? Most process models are designed so that "B" can't start until "A" is finished. This makes getting from A to Z time consuming, not to mention – it leaves no room for exploration, experimentation and failure. Wait, failure? Yes. Failures in a process are necessary for evolving an idea and even starting over if needed. "Parallel action" allows for these steps to occur and is the difference between work that is good or…See More

Don't be afraid.

I just finished judging the student Addys here in the middle Tennessee region. For those of you who don't know, this region leads the nation in entries and the number of schools that enter. That said, it warms my heart to know that there are some real teachers out there that give a shit. Horah to those that coach and mentor young aspiring creative thinkers who dream of being talented. The collection of work proved it. People are born creative. It's society and conservative teachers that lead us…See More

Holiday peace and goodwill.

Every year when it's time to send out the redpepper holiday greeting to all our friends, it's like voting for the next president. The debate can sometimes last half the year. It seems like you can't ever stop coming up with the next best idea and the last one is questioned to death. When doing creative for your own brand, it's challenging to keep each other from being hypercritical. So, for 2009, the objective for our holiday greeting to our fans was simple, have fun and share our culture. We…See More

Relish it?

Found this little ditty and thought I'd share. Pretty funny stuff. I will say that it has been shared several times now so in that regard it's doing it's job.iRelish Media is a Digital Media house and Creative Media Agency based in London and the South of England. Their client portfolio is so so, and for a "creative digital media agency" their presentation of their work could be more impressive. The comedy on the intro is worth sharing, and the message conveys that they do understand somewhat…See More

Mobile homes come in two parts.

And pointing is epic. Bobby Butronic step aside, here comes Robert Lee. He sells mobile homes and he doesn't really care if you buy one from him or not, "won't hurt my feelings".This is a great example of taking something real and seeing it for its uniqueness. This guy IS the mobile home dealer and the creative execution of introducing his mobile home team has the makings of MTV's new reality show.Honestly though, with 450,000 views and counting on YouTube Robert is headed for local and global…See More
