Goafest 2008. The conclave that chewed on value.
It was more like a funeral.
Warm and stuffy to begin with, perhaps because the room was filling with people who were full of hot air.
Was the mood down because there were too many doomsday prophets,
or did we all smell the death of the advertising industry in India?
Dull faces, sombre expressions, unengaging debates.
It took the men from NASSCOM and Ranjan Kapur to give direction to an industry body
which seemed clueless about the future.
