When I first started in this business, I used to find reasons to work the weekends. I loved it that much. While I can do without the weekends, I have as much passion and love for advertising as I did when I first started. I love the teamwork, I love the differences of ideas and the dynamics that come into play determining what idea wins out. What gets produced. What the client picks. I get excited when I know someone who is working with me hits the big idea. I love to see the expression on their faces when they too realize, they just did it!
I was raised in a working class Italian family in Park Slope, Brooklyn back in the 70's. I never listened when my dad was trying to teach me drywall. I always fell alseep when he was under his car teaching me what made it run and I almost always found an excuse not to be around when he was installing a light fixture.
Thank God for my Mom who seeing that I had artisitic talent said,"Robert, when you grow up you should do what your cousin Phil does". Even though my cousin Phil was a photo retoucher, I took the hint and went into advertising cause I can't do anything else.
