Giant Ideas' Giant Ideas Could Use a Ginormous Trim

To promote its agency at a local ad awards show, Giant Ideas produced a self-promoting parody of the Cloverfield trailer.

It might have been funny if it weren't actually longer than the original. Because come on, guys. Two minutes of mostly bad party footage? We would've gotten the joke inside :30, easy.

BTW - This video has won many awards since it was released, including a Webby!

You are correct, actually the award show version was much shorter and didn't include any self-promotional aspects. It was used as a category introduction, the category was "Non-Traditional", and the awards version simply ended with those words. We planned on using the spot, since we obviously spent a lot of effort on producing it, as a self-promotional piece as well.

The YouTube version also features longer credits than the HD versions available on our site, since the original credits are impossible to read on the smaller version. A lot of people donated free time to help with this and we wanted to make sure they could be recognized.

And just for the record, the original Cloverfield teaser trailer is 2 minutes long, and our video (without credits) is 1:40 minutes long. Shorter than the original.

Thanks for posting it and I hope you enjoyed it.
