Agency Moves to New Location With Michael Bay Flair

This is both funny and lame at the same time. But, because it's an agency pimping itself, all can be forgiven because, ya know, agencies are funny and lame at the same time. To celebrate its move from some crappy warehouse location to sweet downtown San Franciso digs, Bars + Tone created a Michael Bay-style video complete with dramatic music, lots of explosions, and self -important men dressed in black peering into the camera like David Caruso does so well on CSI Miami.

Don't you love this business?

Steve,

I don't want to judge the technical part of this ad (as it's rather obvious they had to be the most spectacular, as to advertize their ability together with the moving news).

I wish to underline a big mistake: within the ad they advertize a lot of brands which are not their current direct customers.
This is totally wrong, as this occasion could also be a way to "thank" their customers and give them a reward.

I guess that the customer should always be at the center of our communication.
They should be our "reason why", always and everywhere.
Any egocentricity (even if typical in our sector) should be avoided, as it loosens our contact with reality and turns us away from the market.

Which is this case, where the ad is not well integrated with the overall communication style of the agency.

So, in conclusion, I don't love it.

Mario
