30Rock's Jane Krakowski appears in this tacky ravaging of Gone with the Wind for Breyer's ice cream.
And while we can appreciate the seamless integration of a contemporary (if hardly worthy) Scarlett O'Hara, it disgusts us to no end when she puts on the Southern simper and weds her crappy girls-night-out-fantasy dialogue to Rhett's timeless hot/cold leading man ditties.
Classics are in part what they are because they represent a time and a society no longer accessible to us. That's not to say that every once in awhile we can't have some fun integrating the present with the past. And this isn't to say Jane Krakowski's art doesn't stand up to Vivian Leigh's on the Vast Majority's warped-ass yardstick.
This is just to say that Breyer's ain't no Haagen-Dazs. And if it wants to use objectively lame slogans ("Smooth and Dreamy!") to associate itself with cult cinema, it should choose titles more appropriate to its level, like 10 Things I Hate About You or 27 Dresses.
Via. Also see a video of Jane Krakowski discussing the campaign. Apparently a similar penetration of King Kong is headed our way.
