Frozen Babies Found In Grocery Freezers, Child Abuse Prevented

If you live in France and happen to have found a baby in the frozen food section of your local grocery store, fear not. This isn't the latest baby dumping stint by a distraught teenager; it's just a home-grown campaign to promote France's national phone number, 119, to prevent child abuse. Another clue this isn't one of those baby-in-a-trash-barrel things: their tiny, plastic and wrapped in bags like toys.

It's not a sanctioned campaign but a one-off from a group of people who think the cause needs greater promotion. We're not sure what we'd do if we found a frozen baby while reaching for a bag of frozen peas but we sure like the approach these guys took to call attention to the issue. Watch the video.

Comment by TJ on October 29, 2007 at 11:24am: While the cause is great and the need to bring the problem of Child Abuse to the forefront is so important...They could have REALLY brought this out into the open on a well-placed billboard or some ingeniously placed stickers, rather than hiding it (like MOST child abuse cases) under the frozen peas...besides, I can't think of ANY store managers that would gladly go along with this type of advertising...(which is why they had to hide the dolls in the first place, ( I know and understand where they're ( the 119 people) coming from ad-wise) so stop typing me a response already. Child abuse is currently in a pendulum of sorts...What used to shock the shit out of us in the past few years regarding the exploitation and abuse of children has crept up on us and become common place.We joke about it more and more each day. We're a jaded society when it comes to things that were once thought of as "horrific" or "unconscionable"...and the reasons for that are to numerous to list. Example A:

I have three beautiful daughters and I really don't find this funny at all.

The flip side of that is a catch 22 of sorts for parents. You go to spank your child for punishment these days and BLAMMO... you're in full-length body cuffs before you hit the ground as your 5 year old heads off to a tactics meeting in his/her lawyers limo on the way to your impending arraignment. I thank the mother divine justice (Mom with a versatile flip-flop shoe) that I was punished the way I was as a child. I respect the law, my elders and I have an absolute "purity of conviction" with regards to what is right...and what is wrong.

I'm going to stop now because I have WAY too much to say about this and I have a photo shoot in 45 minutes. Time is of the essence.
