Lately I have become obsessed with online video advertising. I want to know what people think is working and what is generating more ad blindness and awkward user experiences. Some examples worth hearing comments on include:
- VideoEgg.com - Big brand distribution of video ads
- InSkinMedia.com - the skin is the ad
- Overlay.TV - Easy-to-use platform for interactive video
- spotxchange.com - Ad network/exchange for video ads
Are there others you think are cool or interesting?

In the automotive space, video advertising within a rich media spot does quite well and we are seeing high video completion rates from users who interact with the media unit. I think it provides an educational and often intriguing view of the product that one loses in still images or brief TV commercial spots that barely show the car. With online media, we can do things that focus more on the vehicle in an entertaining and more informative way.

The other thing that seems to improve engagement is including a "play button" image over the video content which acts as visual clue for the user letting them know what to expect. Go figure but pressing a button is an engaging call to action. :)

I agree. Watching a video is engagement. And letting the user opt to play it is always friendly. Especially if their audio is turned up and they happen to be shopping for cars during a meeting ;-)

Yes, I've been in plenty of meetings that could use a good exhaust note to wake everyone up. :)
