Walking and talking is worth a try. It will cost some calories and shoe sole. But it could be very productive, depending on where you walk and who you talk to.

ambient - leave somthing somewhere
guerilla - scribble out the brand name and replace with your own
social media - invite friends on facebook
promo - put stickers and business cards everywhere
direct mail - print out a flyer to leave in mail boxes or to staple on a telephone pole
event - find a box and start yelling till you get arrested, make sure somone takes a picture of you and your brand getting beaten down by the police.
The best press is free press, so fight the system and take one for the team.

well in some countries.. graffities could be a great and innovative media... and here in Colombia whe glue posters to walls everywhere which is very cheap. also street performances that direct u to the brand.
