So am I the only person who was turned off by visiting AdGabber and finding that the live chat window was the focus, and that it was populated by gay male porn?
This year's Superbowl is rife with ideas and new thoughts based upon the reactions from this year's ads and efforts. I'm disappointed that AdGabber (formerly AdRants) has nothing to say officially other than an empty chat window that offered gay male porn.
Can we PLEASE turn this thread into something beneficial in terms of an industry discussion???
First of all, AdGabber is not and was not ever "formerly Adrants." It's an entirely separate product with an entirely separate purpose. Secondly, you are right. Anytime you stick a chat up, it's going to attract the freaks. But, had you joined the chat during the game, you would have experienced a rousing discussion of the game.
And if you're worried Adrants has nothing official to say about about the Super Bowl, please refer to the 40 or so stories we published on Adrants about the ads in the game.
Kev - when I first logged on, I did see a few stragglers but they seemed to move on when the regular ad peeps came in. I thought the event the rest of the way worked itself out nicely even through the end. A few comments on politics started interferring with the game at an important point, but the room brought it under control and Angela and Steve did what I thought was a nice job maintaining order overall.
Maybe what the chat needed was to be closed after the active moderation was down? I tried scrolling up to see what I had missed and I didn't go too far after seeing what was there. I guess what bothered me was the amount of anonymity of the platform, and the types of folks (who appear to be non-industry) that it attracted.
