Hey all, tom from Kodak here. We produced a video for our disruptive inkjet printer line that might not seem like stereotypical Kodak approach. What do you think? We had fun making it.
Vincent Pastore and Inkjet
Here is another that is more traditional and that makes sense given the subject:
Nely Galan and Kodak Gallery.

Two very different styles and subjects - did we hit the mark? I would love to hear your collective thoughts. -tom

I think the YouTube views since they both appeared online March 31st tells the story. Vincent 4000+ Nely 600

The Vincent ad is very funny and I much loved the music at the end, what's the name of that song?

I'd hadn't heard of Nely until I of course "Googled" her and found she was a TV exec who appeared on The Apprentice, a show I've never watched. Her ad felt somewhat "tug at the heart strings" contrived.

The Vincent ad has a chance to go "viral" I think. It's entertainment as opposed to Nely which is a product pitch.

One idea might be to do a Vincent Kodak Gallery ad which I think could be killer funny. Imagining him telling the stories about the ficticious characters in them makes me laugh just thinking about it.

All this IMHO.

Hey DP, thanks!
The music was Wagner in the Vinny piece.
Nely's wasn't contrived, it really was from the heart. She is wonderful to work with and her stories were real. She makes photobooks like crazy! Her video will work well in the context of product messaging at the Gallery.
The Vinny video was also picked up on Gizmodo and had over 16K views there.
I'll have to think on your Vincent/Gallery idea - could be funny!
btw - I had a great experience while shooting that one. I blogged about it here.
We made three videos with Celebrity Apprentice people, Vinny, Nely, and Marilu Henner.
We shot one on Tuesday, another on Wednesday, and the last on Thursday. They went into
post production and were live the following Thursday to coincide with the finale of CelebApp.
Busy days to be sure! Thanks for sharing your opinion, I really appreciate it.

I like your new landing, it actually has a great story behind - just like the traditional video-
I think the surprising element is powerfull- Vincent talking to the printer (vs. smashing it)- , although the story is a bit predictable right from the beginning of the spot. Great production!

Well you SOLD ME! You absolutely hit the mark on this one. I have (another brand's) all-in-one that I use here in my office and go through ink like crazy. I will definitely be buying the Kodak all-in-one for my next printer.

I agree with Dailey, the Nely ad feels contrived. Whether or not her story is legitimate, I feel that ad's that incorporate heart-string tugging motif's generally make me think "Why are these two associated at all?" more than the actual utility of the product.

The Vincent ad was well produced, but felt a little hackneyed to me. As soon as you saw his face, you could envision the rest of the ad, which makes me not want to pay attention to the product details given at the end.

I imagine this is all post-post production at this point, and I realize this is most likely going to be shortened for a TV spot, but in my mind, I would enjoy it played out like this:
A shot showing Vincent driving the car, the music queued up in the background. It then switches to the company whose printer is about to be 'whacked', and shows an executive cautiously opening a small box. Inside is a baseball (think Godfather style). They react with fear or intimidation, whatever. Then cut to Vincent opening the trunk with a small amount of dialogue, and have him smash the printer.

Just my overly critical .02. I do think the ad is very enjoyable the way it is. Kudos on advertising with a sense of humor.

Or, the executive throws back his covers on his bed to see his mangled printer.
