Car Trouble

Here's the deal, my van has been having some problems lately, you know the story, first the fuses short out, then the battery dies, and being stuck on the side of 485 on the hottest day of the year with two hours to get to s DJ gig is pretty shitty in and of itself. Ok, that being said, having car trouble pisses people off, its inconvenient, and expensive. Add to this little equation the mechanics, and the guys who work the front at auto shops. These guys tend to be the lowest of the low, making… Continue

What Having a Dog Can Teach Us About Marketing.

I have a dog. Bear is his name and he's an adorable pit-bull-lab mix. Bear's about to turn one soon, he's still a puppy. The other day I was trying to get Bear to come to me from my girl's bedroom. I thought, how can I get Bear to come to me without just yelling at him, which by the way wasn't working. So I said to myself, I'll take out a bag of chips, and when he hears the sound of the bag he'll think about the chips, want the chips, and come running. I took out the chips, crinkled the bag..…

Keyhole Theory and New Media

I've been thinking alot lately about the Keyhole Theory , and the way it applies to New Media, and our world today. Ever since my brother let me listen to a podacast from one of his philosophy professors in Australia, I've been thinking about this concept. Basically Keyhole Theory states that: once you know that someone else is around and watching you, you can never act the same way you did when you thought you were alone.

You know the feeling, and the best example I can give is: say y…

The Super Bowl: Through my eyes.

Alot of the ads were way overdone, too much money not enough thinkey, and where was the interactivety? First off I was kind of disappointed by the turnout. It seemed like with a lot of the big advertisers there was a lot more show, very little go, and most of the 60 second spots really dragged out. For example the Justin Timberlake Pepsi ad, the GMC pushing a rock uphill ad....boring and way too damn long, thanks for showing the truck sitting there for 5 seconds; Sobe, man that spot totally suc… Continue

Jonathan's Super Bowl Review: The Introduction

Here's the deal, with the Super Bowl coming up, I'm going to do a little experiment concerning the ads. As a 27-year-old male, I'd say I'm in the target demo for most of the advertisers who are running spots during the Big Game. With that said I am going to perform an experiment that goes like this: 1. During the Super Bowl I will blog about all of the ads that I like. I will be focusing on elements of style, copywriting, humor, the effectiveness of the message and relevance. I'll also make not… Continue
