Directing an Author Reading His Audio Book

I have in my day both voiced and directed audio books. As a director I have usually worked with trained talent. That is to say, individuals who have some degre of experience perfroming voiceover and/or have had some acting training. There seems to be a trend these days to have the authors read the books themselves whenever possible. So a few weeks ago I was introduced to Mr. Bill Tancer and his book called Click. Bill Tancer is the general manager of global research at Hitwise and a weekly colu… Continue

It's Not Easy Being Green

Well, I think Kermit the Frog was the first to sing the sentiments of it not being easy being green. For now and some time to come I am afraid that all the other colors of the rainbow will simply have to take a backstage. Mauve and Fuschia will have no place in our society. It's green, green, green. One of the big reasons is because it's "safe". Just as all of our country's politicians realized that once they couldn't take money from Tobacco lobbyists anymore for 30 years 90% of all legislation… Continue

WOW - I haven't blogged since Christmas. It's almost like I've been in a coma.

SO, it's now mid-April. Actually iut's April 15th and for once I filed my taxes early which means I can act really smug when I watch all the people on t.v. tonight on th 11 O'clock news waiting in line to send their returns. What I really want to do is go to the post office at around 5 or 10 minutes after midnight just to see who shows up and point at them and laugh. I usually sit down and blog with something in mind, but right now if I shined a flashlight into my right ear, the light would com… Continue

Tis the Season to Realize I'm a Year Older

Dear Diary or whatever. Well looks like things with me and the Create Magazine folks are cool and groovy. I'm on the Advisory Board for another year and will even have my own monthly rants and raves column on their website. (More on that to come)

So I checked out the November issue of Create and looks like some ofthe judges agreed with some of my picks but not with some of my other picks. But then again, I'm still a little foggy over exac

Did You really Ask me to Judge a Creative Awards Program

Today is October 20th and my last blog was August 17th. That';s over 2 months since I took advantage of the ever present free form of ridding my head of the constant voices. I mean blogging. Oh, so much has happened, but just as with baby pictures, most of it is really only of interest to myself, some select friends and a grandparent or two.

I did judge the Create Awards. Some of you know that I have been on their Advisory Board since the magazine went national - a little over 2 years.…

Hey, J - thanks for the tip on the ADDY Awards panel. I was actually planning on asking you for some marketing ideas for my seminars, but you beat me to the punch, as usual.

Cordially,

Congrats J.S.! Seems like Friday the 13th is not as bad as they say... it was a quite interesting day for me too... I had a chance to visit BSSP in Sausalito (what a gorgeous place!).
I keep working on my portfolio, trying to add more interactivity and experiment with some video editing techniques...
Hope you enjoy these summer days and keep recycling lol. (I do...)

Now that you mention it, you and I both took the uncles advice. What could be more plastic than the advertising business and those in it? Oh my.

I'm traveling a lot lately taking care of relationships, pressing the flesh, entertaining, keeping business in place, and looking for more from the same. Summer is a good time for social maintenance of the client base. What's shakin out west, pal?

Hey J.S.,

So I researched the whole day yesterday and now I know what the perfect logo is. I'm working on them today and will send you roughs this week. If you get a chance Google "the thinker" in images. Something like that, but pop artist and a twist of classic art. How do you feel about this?

In terms of creative wisdom... I like this onel (and forgive me, but I don't remember who said it, so if anybody asks, I'd say it was you, ok?)
"if you want to write a book that appeals to millions, write a book for one person. And that person is yourself".

Have a great evening J.S.
