The seed, the pit and the cherry

Here's a ten minute video presentation I did for Acumen. I hope you'll discover that the idea of forming a nucleus applies to what you're working on as well.

Gravity is just a theory

Are you marketing gravity or evolution? Newton gets all kinds of credit. They call it the Law of Gravity. They put his picture on pages that profile geniuses. They say he discovered gravity. Nonsense. He just named it. Everyone 'believes'...

If you could change your life

...would you? Getting into Stanford Business School changed my life. In college, I trained to be a mediocre engineer (I didn't set out to be mediocre at it, but I sure was). I was on track to become Dilbert. Getting...

An iphone app that could change the way you get to work

[Update: since I posted this two days ago, I've gotten dozens of notes about systems in the UK, Australia and around the world that people say are "almost but not quite what you're describing." I also got a few notes...

Creating a clearance sale culture

If you want to avoid being stuck with inventory or downtime during a recession, you might profit from realizing that people tell themselves a different story when they go to buy something. During good times, we wonder, "can I get...

Hi Michael,
Thanks so much for your feedback on our Marketing Summit. I was sent over here to Toronto two years ago from our London, UK HQ and it's highly gratifying to hear positive response - it makes the winters more bearable! I'm enthusiastic when it comes to building value onto what we do and listening to feedback from the clients who actually experience what we put together. If they're not happy then it ain't working. I must say your job sounds exceptionally cool and I hope you're enjoying it to the full. I had the good fortune to be taken to the British F1 GP a couple of years back when I worked at Petroleum Economist mag, by Petrobras who were making the Williams fuel and it ranks right up there in fond memories thus far.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond and have a great Christmas with your family.
Cheers! Tom
