About Me
I work as a marketing consultant who feeds her writing frustrations by churning out voluminous marketing plans. Someday, my SWOT analyses written in Verdana, font size 8 might win a Pulitzer. That is my happy thought as I slave in front of the computer trying to beat my deadline of 30 complicated PowerPoint slides for a business review...yesterday.

Together with 4 dogs, 2 hamsters, a rabbit, a cat and a chicken named Ms. Cluckie, my daughter and I live deep in the Philippine hinterlands. We do get 4 bars on our cell phones but smoke signals are probably best.

Dear Emma

Dear Emma,

Thank you for your input. I truly appreciated the statistics you have provided.

But, as I stated on my post, it was not the Frenzy commercial itself that I was having an issue with. In fact, that was not my first post about Frenzy. When I first saw their commercial, I applauded Frenzy for it. I thought it was rather brave of them to take on such a sensitive topic. I liked their first commercial including its technical aspects.

My concern with the… Continue

Sex Is Fun?

Frenzy condom’s tagline: The fun begins in the choosing.

ARE YOU INSANE?! In case you have not noticed, the Philippines is a predominantly Catholic country. You do not sell condoms here by saying that.

Right now, I am confused whether I’m saying this as a marketer or as a mother. I’m guessing it’s more of being the overbearing, overly dramatic, over acting, over-everything mother.

Oh well, S-E-R-I-O-U-S-L-Y! What mother in this conservative, tradi… Continue

San Miguel Beer - Going global?

So. If I am to understand San Miguel Beer's latest TVC, the beer giant is intensifying its campaign to go global.

First, it was Eric Morales. The TVC cashed in on Manny Pacquiao's dramatic win at the time of the TVC's release. It would've been ok except why did they force… Continue

Frenzy Condoms: Did I Just See That?

I was watching TV the other night when I saw a TVC for Frenzy condoms. On primetime television.

Wow. The Philippines has certainly come a long way, baby.

Years ago, it would've been unthinkable for a condom commercial to air anywhere. The powerful Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines would've made sure of that. Trust me, the princes of the Roman Catholic Church here would've clamped down on them faster than the military could get to the NPAs. In this p… Continue

Why Are There Dolphins?!

The Bench TVC celebrating Bench's 20th year broke yesterday on national TV.

Someone should shoot whoever it was that thought of adding those dolphins to Richard Gomez' rowing segment. Cheesy is too kind a word to describe it. It was so obviously computer-generated, I am reminded of my dancing baby screen saver.

And why is everything in slow motion? Come to think of it, why are we so fascinated with slow motion? We… Continue

Forget the Filipinos. Indians (I'm one) are much more prejudiced to their countrymen who can't speak English with perfect pronounciation. So it's the same everywhere...which proves what a small world it is (and not an entirely nice one at that).
