We used to call them, “paste up artists” what do we call those people who prepare the files for publication today? Graphic designer can’t be the right term. What do you think?

Hey all…new guy here — and on a rare (thankfully) slow business day to boot. Wanted to post on a topic that every now and again rears its head, especially in terms of mentoring creative staff and giving timely performance reviews. It’s based on something an old CCO of mine used to say all the time, and I paraphrase to remove choice expletives: “You’ll never get the best creative work from your staff unless you’re a complete bastard to them; you do them a disservice by trying to be their friend.” Now, I know what this person was getting at, and how being tough and decisive when you need to is critical — but I’ve always wondered how other creative managers felt about that philosophy.

Hi everyone, boys and girls of all ages… my name is Steve and I am a Scorpio. Here’s me in a nutshell, a large nutshelll

My passion, my energy, my drive and my enthusiasm is true, real and undeniable. I don’t drink, smoke or use drugs. I don’t begrudge anyone who does however… it’s just that’s not me. The high I get from creating, writing, conceptualizing and destroying a pepperoni pizza is palpable. And no drug, man-made or otherwise could EVER duplicate, replicate or imitate the feeling and sensation that is derived from that.

New to the club!

Hi All,
Just thought I would introduce myself, I am a digital art director from Ireland and I have set up my own blog, which will be looking at all that is new/viral on the web, even if it is a tv ad that has gone viral or if I think it has the potential to be a great digital campaign it will be there, so check www.anthonyorourke.ie when you get a few spare minutes!

You don’t need “on” OR “by”. It reads fine without, and the meaning’s not lost. It’s preference, really. I always err on the side of succinctness.

Technically, you don’t need that comma in there either. The comma’s only necessary if you had an independent clause that followed.

Sorry, I did a stint as a HS English teacher.

Need grammar experts. I say this sentence is clumsy, I don’t like the word (on) seems to me it should be (by). Am I right and why? ” I changed the names to not look like I am promoting the agency on line. Not that you lot care about that. Here is the line, “Hotshot advertising is a full service advertising agency, specializing in franchising, and has built its success (ON) helping clients find their customers shiny object. Gimme some ammo on this. Unless I’m wrong again.

Augmented Reality? Just when I thought I was getting a handle on Social Media this pops up. Any implications for advertising?

Roland, Yea, that’s what we thought, see it all the time. But The Health Department sees it differently. So it is lawyer time. Could be the depictition of flames.
