How does White Collar Crime work? What if the safety harness on the roller coaster broke? What are 10 inventions we use daily that began with NASA? How does WiFi operate? Who is Aaron Fotheringham?… Continue
Anyone old enough remembers where they were when they heard that Kennedy was assassinated. In 1977 I was in a coach car park when people shouted – literally wailed – over the death of Elvis Presley. I remember the assassination of Lennon, Kurt Cobain’s ‘official’ gunshot wound to… Continue

An explosion of social media popularity has sent a flurry of new broadcasts out into the “tweetosphere” producing a lot more noise. Kind of like getting every FM radio station at once. No one is arguing the value of your message on social media. It’s clear that the right business using the right social media tools can have a huge impact in their marketplace. But how does a business push through the social media noise?
In the audio world (and a lot of others) there is a term called “… Continue

It seems that business pundits are of the mind that many of the successful social networks that exist today are doomed to fail because of a crippling inability to monetize themselves. I’ve thought about this and I’d like to take a moment to mount my digital soapbox. After much reflection, I think that this is not only a myopic point of view, but that it is exactly this line of thinking that will in fact bring down social networking as we know it.
I’ll be honest with you; in college I didn’t exa… Continue

You might think ‘No one will read my sign if it’s moving around so much!’ Not true! Instead of just holding a sign for people to read at their leisure, sign spinners know they’re advertising for you and present the 2ft by 2ft shaped like a square sign with your company name. Unlike a stationary sign that is easily ignored, potential customers can’t help but notice and read your sign. Spinners can pick out who might be interested and display the signage, so your business gets the maximum benefit… Continue
Getzooks is a new social networking platform that came into fruition, mainly due to the interest so many people showed in the “My Music Ticket” fiasco.
Getzooks uses the basic web 2.0 concept of helping others and in turn helping yourself. In fact with what is going to be available with the software you could likely say that Getzooks is a for runner to where marketing Web 3.0 is going to take us.
Portions of the money generated by Getzooks will go towards helping people in the world less fortuna… Continue

Nothing seems to entertain more than those mini movies on TV that we call commercials. Commercials are so loved that even 20, 30, or 40 years later, people fondly recall their favorites from childhood, or even the new favorite viewed just the night before.
I most fondly recall the commercials from Saturday mornings when I would sit on the floor in front of the TV, watching cartoons in my pajamas. Mind you, t… Continue

I am amazed at the lack of coverage on H1N1 in the Media and so have added this.
So, I was just reading the latest report on the WHO web site.
Total number of cases worldwide, increased over the weekend by 7873 to 52160. 3594 about half of the new cases were in the USA. Total deaths attributable to the disease increased by 51 to 231. Of the 51 increase 43 were in the USA and doubled the number of US fatalities.
It worries me that without coverage people become complacent and accelerate the sp… Continue

When marketing professionals use a campaign tool long enough, it becomes a meaningless tactic that offends and alienates customers. Fifteen years ago, surveys were an excellent tool for engaging customers. Today, companies assault people with shallow, patronizing surveys. They use surveys to trick and bribe customers, rather than truly find out how “to serve you better.” Because they have been overused and misused, the survey has become a plague on customers that companies should eradicate forev… Continue
